UChicago to webcast events from May 18-20 comics conference

Update: Please note that the time for the panel discussion "Lines on Paper" has changed. The discussion will be webcast from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will be the only event webcast on Sunday, May 20.

UChicago will provide live webcasts for a number of events from “Comics: Philosophy & Practice,” a conference on May 18-20 that will bring together 17 world-renowned cartoonists to discuss the past and future of graphic narrative.

The free webcasts will be available via UChicago Live on Friday, May 18 from 6 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 19 from 9 a .m. to 7:15 p.m.; and Sunday, May 20 from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Participants can RSVP to the live webcast event “Comics: Philosophy & Practice” on Facebook, and join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #comicscon.

This unprecedented gathering is the first in an annual series of conferences sponsored by the Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry, a major new arts initiative aimed at fostering creative innovation at the intersection of academic inquiry and artistic practice. It is also one of the first major events held in the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, a vibrant new hub of arts activity on the UChicago campus.
