Elaine Pagels, the Harrington Spear Paine Foundation Professor of Religion at Princeton University and best-selling author of Beyond Belief, the Secret Gospel of Thomas, will give a lecture on the Book of Revelation at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Classics Room 10.
The lecture, "The Cultural Impact of the Book of Revelation," will examine who wrote the last book of the Bible and why, how it came to be canonized instead of other contemporaneous "books of revelation" and what impact that decision has had on culture. A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m.
