Chicago Booth faculty partners with Bloomberg News on new weekly column

Faculty members from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business have begun a partnership with Bloomberg News, in which they will write a weekly op-ed column called “Business Class,” which will be published Fridays as part of “Bloomberg View,” a new opinion section of its website.

The inaugural column, “Make Money Market Funds Go to Market,” was written by Luigi Zingales, Robert C. McCormack Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance.

Other regular contributors will include influential Chicago Booth faculty members in a variety of disciplines.

“Our faculty have been innovators in many respects, including winning the first Nobel Prize given to a business school professor, starting the first business PhD program and executive MBA program, and founding the first scholarly business journal, so we are very excited to add to this list of firsts by teaming up with Bloomberg News to create the first weekly column by a business school’s faculty,” said Sunil Kumar, dean of Chicago Booth.

“Our Initiative on Global Markets aims to improve public dialogue about how these markets work, their effects and the way they interact with policies and institutions. The unparalleled reach of Bloomberg News will greatly improve our reach,” said Kumar, who also is a professor of operations management at Booth.

Columns by Booth faculty also will be available each week on the blog of Chicago Booth’s Initiative on Global Markets at www.igmchicago.org.
