John List

John List has done pioneering work in field experiments in economics in which he developed scientific methods for testing economic theory directly in the marketplace. His research interests include experimental economics, field experiments, education, youth violence, economics of charity, environmental economics, experiments in firms, multi-unit auctions and neuro-economics.

He is editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives and associate editor of the American Economic Review and the Journal of Economic Literature. Additionally, List continues to be active in the field of environmental economics with recent field experiments on environmental technology adoption.

He was a senior economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2002–03, when he worked on multinational market institutions to address climate change.
