Parker Solar Probe

The Parker Solar Probe, named for UChicago Prof. Emeritus Eugene Parker in honor of his pioneering research on the sun and the solar wind, is the first NASA mission named after a living person. The spacecraft launched Aug. 12, 2018 and will fly closer to the sun than any before it.
