Sidney Nagel

Sidney Nagel leads a team of researchers who study non-linear and far-from-equilibrium behavior in disordered systems. Such cases occur often in fluid dynamics such as when a drop of liquid splashes on a solid object or is placed on a very hot surface.

As the head of the Nagel Group, he investigates phenomena such as jamming, granular materials, singularities in free-surface flows, and splashing.
