Christina E. Ciaccio

Christina E. Ciaccio, MD, MSc, is an associate professor of pediatrics and medicine at UChicago Medicine, where she serves as the section chief of allergy/immunology and pediatric pulmonology.  She provides care for children and adults with food and environmental allergies, anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis, urticaria and angioedema, allergic rashes, and asthma.

Assoc. Prof. Ciaccio’s research explores how nutrition (prebiotics) and microbial exposures (probiotics) affect immunoglobulin E (IgE) sensitization. She is currently working with other UChicago researchers to build a translational research program that will help influence preventive care strategies.

Assoc. Prof. Ciaccio’s findings have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including Allergy and Asthma Proceedings and the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. She received the Young Faculty Award from the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and was awarded the Paul Henson Endowment Clinical Scholar Award while serving as a fellow at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She is also the former president of the Greater Kansas City Allergy Society.
