Linda Waite

Linda Waite’s research interests include social demography, aging, the family, health, working families, and the link between biology, psychology and the social world.

Waite’s research focuses on the National Social Life, Health and Aging Project, a study which has at its core a national survey of older adults first interviewed in 2005 and 2006. In 2010 and 2011, a second round of interviews was conducted with respondents, non-respondents and their spouses or cohabiting romantic partners. A third interview is planned for respondents and their partners.

Waite is director of the Center on Aging at NORC at the University of Chicago. She is a co-editor of Perspectives on the Future of the Sociology of Aging (2013) and numerous articles and book chapters on topics related to marriage, aging and sexuality.
