James E. Schrager

James E. Schrager is a Clinical Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He studies why some companies fail and others succeed with an eye toward the way strategy affects the outcomes. He has specialized in understanding how management and investment teams make strategy decisions and how to improve those choices. He teaches a popular course on New Venture Strategy to Booth MBAs. Schrager has won the Emory Williams Award for Teaching Excellence three times and was named by BusinessWeek magazine as one of the top 12 U.S. teachers of entrepreneurship.

Prof. Schrager has also published multiple articles in the Wall Street JournalCEO Magazine, and Chicago Tribune. He is frequently quoted in the press and has appeared on NBC, ABC, PBS, and other networks as an expert commentator on business strategy.
