David Jablonski

David Jablonski is a paleontologist who studies macroevolution, which takes place above the species level and encompasses large-scale patterns of evolution, mass extinction, diversification and the origin of evolutionary breakthroughs. His research emphasizes the integration of data from living and fossil organisms to study the origins and the fates of lineages and adaptations.
He is a research associate of the Field Museum in Chicago and a former honorary research fellow of the Natural History Museum in London. A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jablonski also is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the Paleontological Society and a was the recipient of 2017 Paleontological Society Medal. His other honors include a Guggenheim fellowship and the Paleontological Society's Charles Schuchert Award.
Prof. Jablonski is co-editor of three books, The Encyclopedia of Paleontology (1979), Patterns and Processes in the History of Life (1987) and Evolutionary Paleobiology (1996).
