Benson Farb

An expert in pure mathematics, Benson Farb works at the intersection of geometry, topology, and group theory. He specializes in geometric group theory and low-dimensional topology. His work helps explain events and recognize patterns in the natural world. Prof. Farb has edited or co-edited five books and serves on the editorial boards for Geometriae Dedicata, Geometry and Topology, the Journal of Topology and Analysis, the Journal of Homotopy Theory and Related Structures, and the Chicago Lectures in Mathematics Series.

A member of the inaugural class of fellows of the American Mathematical Society, Prof. Farb has also been honored with a Sloan Foundation Fellowship and a National Science Foundation Career award.
