Joseph Vavra

Joseph Vavra studies macroeconomics and monetary economics, with a focus on the influence of the housing market and the effects of regional business cycles on aggregate economic activity.

In his most recent research, Vavra argues that monetary policy actions such as the first round of quantitative easing during the Great Recession amplified inequality. He is currently researching the consequences of stimulus policies during the pandemic. Vavra is also a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
