Jeffrey Harvey

Jeffrey Harvey studies the theoretical behavior of the most fundamental particles of matter. Much of his work focuses on string theory, although he also studies cosmology, mathematics, and condensed matter physics. Prof. Harvey also investigates umbral moonshine which is a connection between number theory, algebra, and string theory. Understanding umbral moonshine may provide new ways of understanding the structure of black holes and provide new connections between string theory and mathematics.

He is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Physical Society, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
