Chong Liu

The recipient of a Department of Energy Early Career Research Program Award, Liu leads a research group focused on design and synthesis of materials as well as development of electrochemical and optical tools to address the challenges in water-energy nexus. Areas include resource extraction from water systems, separation in liquid and gas phases, and catalysis. Liu's group studies phenomena that span enormous length scales from molecular interaction to mass transport, aiming to develop advanced characterization tools to understand and correlate the materials microscopic properties to macroscopic performance.
