Borgwardt is an acclaimed international law and human rights historian whose research focuses on human rights ideas and institutions. Borgwardt’s first book, A New Deal for the World: America’s Vision for Human Rights, was published in 2005 by Harvard University Press and received several awards, including the Merle Curti Award from the Organization of American Historians.
