On November 17, 2005, The Provost's Task Force on the Library and The University of Chicago Library hosted a one-day conference remembering the past and planning for the future of the Library. Speakers presented historical and current library perspectives and addressed issues of architectural and information-technology trends in research libraries. Andrew Abbott is the Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Sociology and the College at the University of Chicago. He is also Chair of the Provost's Task Force on the Library.Judith Nadler is Director of the University of Chicago Library and University Librarian.
