On January 17, the University of Chicago community celebrated diversity and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual MLK Celebration at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. This event featured a conversation between Professor Charles Payne and civil rights author and documentary filmmaker Judy Richardson. Veteran of the southern civil rights movement and activist with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Richardson began her film work with the Academy Award-nominated, 14-hour PBS series, Eyes on the Prize, for which she was series associate producer and education director.
