The late Gary S. Becker, AM’53, PhD’55, University Professor of Economics and Sociology at the University of Chicago, won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1992 for having extended microeconomic analysis to a wide range of human behavior. Longtime colleague and fellow Nobel laureate James J. Heckman concluded a two-day celebration of Gary S. Becker’s life and work with a keynote address that paid tribute to Becker's extraordinary scholarship.
