The return of Netflix’s House of Cards has generated a frenzy of binge watching and critical acclaim as viewers can’t get enough of the Machivellian machinations of Frank Underwood. But House of Cards is hardly the only show with much to say about politics in the nation’s capitol. From Alpha House to Veep, viewers are awash in shows set in Washington, DC. In a star-studded event, the Institute of Politics hosted creators, writers, consultants and cast members from such shows as Scandal, House of Cards, Alpha House, Veep and The West Wing in our first-ever Political TV Festival. It was a great afternoon of panel discussions, interviews and highlights that took us behind the scenes of the individual shows and explored what they tell us – or don’t tell us – about Washington today.
