The finals of the 20th annual Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge (NVC) were held on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Throughout the day, the NVC finalists presented to a panel of judges comprising of top investors, entrepreneurs, and others. Each team had 12 minutes to present, with 13 minutes of Q&A from the judging panel immediately following their pitch. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the NVC, finalist teams pitched for over $600K in cash prizes and in-kind services, such as legal and professional consulting services and office space. Today, the NVC is recognized as a top-ranked accelerator program in the nation and is where companies like GrubHub and Braintree got their strong start. In addition, NVC companies have successful generated over $434 million in funding and over $3.7 billion in mergers and exits. Winners of the 2016 NVC were announced at the Polsky Innovation Showcase immediately following the finals.
