The 529th Convocation of the University of Chicago was held in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on December 9, 2016. Provost Daniel Diermeier introduced Amanda Woodward, William S. Gray Professor of Psychology and Deputy Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Division of Social Sciences, who delivered an address titled “Learning to Speak.” In the second half of the ceremony, President Zimmer conferred degrees upon candidates in the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools. The program also included performances by the University of Chicago Motet Choir and the Millar Brass Ensemble.
