The 528th Convocation of the University of Chicago was held in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on August 26, 2016. President Robert J. Zimmer welcomed students, families, and friends, followed by Provost Daniel Diermeier’s introduction of the ceremony's featured speaker. Juan de Pablo, Liew Family Professor Of Molecular Theory And Simulations In The Institute For Molecular Engineering And The College; Senior Fellow In The Computation Institute, delivered an address titled “Fate, Preparation, and Opportunity.” In the second half of the ceremony, President Zimmer conferred degrees upon candidates in the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools. The program also included performances by the University of Chicago Motet Choir and the Millar Brass Ensemble.
