The Politics of Guns In America
What should be done to reduce gun violence and prevent such tragedies as the recent shooting spree at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT? And why is the question of gun policy such a divisive, polarizing one in American politics? On January 15, 2013, the University of Chicago’s non-partisan Institute of Politics took up those and other questions with leading voices on all sides of the issues. The panel, which included Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and retired republican congressman Steve Latourette, was moderated by Tom Browkaw.
