John Goldsmith

Professor Goldsmith's studies are concerned with computational linguistics, voice-recognition software, phonological theory, Bantu languages, American Sign Language, and French. He heads the Linguistica project at the University of Chicago, an investigation into the natural structure of language. He is the co-author of Ideology and Linguistic Theory, and serves on the faculty of the Department of Computer Science as well as the Department of Linguistics.
