Future of the City

On Tuesday, February 1, the University of Chicago's Future of the City Symposium will bring together leaders from Chicago and beyond to examine the performance and possibilities of one of America's largest urban centers.

The symposium begins with a special address by Mayor Richard M. Daley, Chicago's longest-serving chief executive. The day's schedule of events also includes presentations and discussions led by internationally recognized urban planners, researchers, and thought leaders.

Together, the day's sessions will present leading-edge thinking on economic priorities, education, quality of life and cultural considerations, raising important questions for the next generation of public and private leadership in Chicago and all large cities.

The symposium is organized by the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy Studies and the Office of Civic Engagement.
