Lab Schools: Swine flu guidelines

April 27, 2009

Subject: To All Lab School Families about Swine Flu

We're aware that all families with children in school are concerned about the outbreak of Swine Flu in Mexico and the Southwest.  As far as we know at present, no cases of Swine Flu have been reported in Illinois. The symptoms are much the same as those for other viral influenzas:

  • fever (usually high)
  • muscle aches
  • headache
  • cough or other cold symptoms
  • vomiting and diarrhea
  • fatigue

If your child seems ill and/or has any combination of symptoms, please keep him or her out of school. Children with fever should not return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours. These guidelines are particularly important if any family members have recently traveled to Mexico or the Southwest.

We will keep you informed by e-mail of any other information or necessary guidelines.
