Rowan Miranda, who has held several roles in finance and higher education leadership, has been appointed Vice President for Operations and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
Miranda joined the University in March 2014 as Senior Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer. After the departure of Nim Chinniah, executive vice president for administration and chief financial officer, in August, Miranda became interim Chief Financial Officer.
As Chief Financial Officer, Miranda will help lead the University’s integrated strategic financial planning and the execution of the University’s financial functions. As Vice President for Operations, he will oversee the functions of facilities, information technology services, commercial real estate operations, safety and security, and business diversity.
“In his time here, Rowan has ensured that through analysis, discipline and organization, the University’s financial plans and actions best support the ambitious academic mission and priorities of the University,” President Robert J. Zimmer said. “In his new roles he will work closely not only with me, but with the provost, deans, officers and the Board of Trustees.
Before coming to the University, Miranda served as associate vice president for finance at the University of Michigan. Earlier, he had been an executive partner with Accenture.
Miranda holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and earned an MA and PhD in public policy analysis from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies. He has held a number of faculty appointments, including adjunct and visiting appointments, over the last 20 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan and Chicago Harris.
