The University of Chicago Alumni Association has launched a new alumni directory, designed to facilitate networking for alumni and students. The directory is a new addition to the UChicago Community Online, a hub of interrelated websites and services created to foster relationships between alumni and other members of the UChicago community.
The professional networking functionality from the Alumni Careers Network has been transferred to and significantly enhanced by the new directory, so alumni searching for new jobs or looking up old friends can do so in the same place.
Current students will be given access to the directory so they may network with alumni, as they did in the Careers Network but with the added enhanced functionality. “With features like keyword search, the ability to filter by location, industry and function—and also the capability to access your LinkedIn profile from your UCCO profile—the new directory will reinvigorate the career networking that alumni can do with each other,” said Annie White, senior associate director of Career and Affinity Programs.
Access to the new directory began on April 1. The Office of Career Advancement will host a workshop for students from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 8, in the West Lounge of Ida Noyes Hall to teach students how to best use this resource and other online networking tools such as LinkedIn.
